How to mark products Using, Wishlist, or Tried
Give every Beauty Board record one honest status. Using, Wishlist, Tried, or Saved. That single field is what stops you buying the same thing twice.

A catalogue without a status is just a pile with nicer photos. Using, Wishlist, Tried, and Saved are the four marks that make the pile answer questions. Give each product one, and keep it honest when the product changes. The aisle check only works if the mark is true.
Four marks, and what they mean
Using. On your body or in the bag this month. The everyday face, the open cleanser, the perfume on the tray. If you would not pack it tomorrow, it is probably not Using.
Wishlist. You want it and you have not bought it, or you are making yourself wait. Not a graveyard of old screenshots. A short list you still mean.
Tried. You gave it a proper go and you have a verdict. Keep the record. The verdict is the value. "Too drying" on a Tried product is worth more than a forgotten empty.
Saved. You are holding the product and you have not decided. New pastes can sit here for a day. They should not sit here for a season.
Those four are already on the save flow in how to save a product from any shop. This piece is only about choosing among them, and about changing the mark when the truth changes.
One status each, not a mood
A product cannot be Using and Wishlist at the same time. If you own it and reach for it, it is Using. If you own it and do not, it is Saved or Tried, not a wishlist item you already paid for. Wishlists that contain things on your shelf are how people restock what they already have.
Tried is the mark people skip, because it feels like admitting a miss. Skip it and you will buy the miss again in new packaging. How to declutter a makeup collection without regretting it already asks you to write why something left. Tried is that line, attached to the product while the product still exists.

Change the mark when the product changes
Statuses go stale the same way drawers do. A wishlist item that arrives becomes Using, or Saved until you open it. An Using cleanser that runs out becomes an empty, with repurchase or not. A Saved gift that you never reach for becomes Tried once you have given it a week, even if the week taught you nothing except that you will not use it.
Do this in the moment, not in a quarterly admin session. The mark takes a second. The stale mark costs a bottle.
Use the marks when you search
Before checkout, search the category and read the statuses, not just the names. Two vitamin C serums that are both Using means you are already doubling up. A Tried with a note means walk away. A Wishlist you added last night means wait a week, which is the rule in a beauty wishlist that is not stuck in one shop.
Mark the five products you used this morning. The rest of the catalogue can catch up as you touch each one. Honest statuses beat a complete set of empty ones.
