How to keep track of hair products

Save shampoo, conditioner, and treatments into Beauty Board with the line and the size. Search the catalogue before you restock the shower.

Hair products live in the shower, which is the worst place to keep an inventory. Bottles look alike when they are wet. The line you like has four versions. You restock from memory in the aisle and bring home the hydrating one when you already have the glossing one open. Save each bottle into Beauty Board with the line and the size, then search the catalogue before you shop.

Why the shower cannot be searched

Makeup at least sits still on a vanity. Haircare is used with your eyes closed, under water, from bottles whose labels have washed pale. "The pink one" is not a record. Neither is "the Kérastase," when that brand sells a dozen shampoos that all look like they belong together.

The cost is the same as duplicate skincare: a second bottle of a line you already own, or a replacement that is not the one you liked. Stop buying skincare you already own is that problem in the bathroom cabinet. Hair is the same problem in a steamy cubicle.

Name the line, the job, and the size

A useful hair record is short.

  • Brand and line. Gloss Absolu, not "the shiny one." Write it the way the shop writes it.
  • Which bottle. Shampoo, conditioner, mask, oil. Families share a look and differ in the job.
  • Size. The 250 ml and the 500 ml are easy to mix up in a camera roll, and the refill is a different product from the first bottle.
  • A photo of that bottle. The wet label in the shower will not help you in the shop.

Paste the shop link if you can. Hair pages often give up the line and the size cleanly. Add the rest by hand if the bottle is a salon leftover with no link. Mark it Using if it is in the shower now.

Haircare lives in the shower, so the record has to live somewhere you can search from the shop aisle.

Inventory the shower, then the cupboard

Start with what is open. One shampoo, one conditioner, the mask you actually finish, the oil if you use it. That is the hair half of keep every beauty product you own in one place. Then do the cupboard: backups, the holiday set, the sample from the salon. Honest status on each.

A short Hair list in Beauty Board is enough. Everyday / Backup as sections keeps the open bottles visible and the spares out of the way. You do not need a second app for hair. It is the same catalogue as the face products, which is the point: one search, one house.

When a bottle runs out, put it on empties with one line: repurchase, not again, or only in the smaller size. Shower products are easy to repurchase on autopilot. The empty is how you notice the mask you never liked.

Search before you restock

The habit is the aisle, not the Sunday reset. Open Beauty Board, search the brand or "shampoo," look at the packshots. Confirm you are replacing the open bottle, not adding a cousin from the same range.

Salon recs belong in the catalogue the day you get them. A name written on a card in the car is a name you will lose. Paste the shop link that night, or add it by hand before the card goes through the wash.

Keep hair with everything else you own. The shower can stay messy. The record should not.
