Privacy policy
This policy explains what we collect when you use Beauty Board, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the control you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal shorthand.
01 Who we are and what this policy covers
Beauty Board is operated by Jack howitt pty ltd (ABN 00 000 000 000), in Australia. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean that entity, and “you” means anyone who visits the site or holds an account.
It covers visiting the website, creating an account, building spaces, adding products, sharing a space, and contacting us for support.
02 Information we collect
- Account details. Your email address and password, handled by our authentication provider. We never see or store your password ourselves.
- Board content. Everything you put on a board: board names, product links you paste, product names, brands, shades, prices, categories, your own tags and status labels, notes and text, and where each item sits on the canvas.
- Images you add. Photos you upload, and product images retrieved from the retailer pages you paste.
- Sharing details. Whether a board has a share link, and the link itself.
- Usage information. Basic product analytics such as opening a board or an import finishing, along with standard technical information your browser sends, like device type and approximate location from your IP address.
If you choose Pro or an extra shop-save pack, Stripe collects your payment details. We do not store your full card number. We do not collect sensitive information such as health details, and we ask that you do not put it on a board.
03 How we collect and use information
Most information comes directly from you: creating an account, pasting a link, uploading a photo, arranging a board, or emailing us. Some is generated automatically as you use the service, such as analytics events and technical logs.
We use it to:
- Give you an account and keep it secure.
- Store your boards and sync them across your devices.
- Turn a pasted link into a product on your board.
- Remove backgrounds from product images so they sit as cutouts.
- Create and serve share links you have chosen to turn on.
- Answer support requests.
- Understand which features get used, and find and fix faults.
- Protect the service against abuse, spam, and misuse.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your board content for advertising.
04 When we share information
- Service providers. The companies listed in section 5, who process information on our behalf so the service can run.
- Anyone with your share link. If you turn on sharing for a board, whoever holds that link can view it. See section 6.
- Authorities and advisers. Where we are required by law, or where we need advice from our lawyers or accountants.
- A future owner. If the service is sold or transferred, information may move with it. We would tell you before that happened.
05 Services we rely on
Beauty Board is built on a small number of external services. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.
- Clerk for account creation, sign-in, and passwords.
- Stripe for Pro subscriptions and extra shop-save packs.
- Convex for storing boards and their contents.
- Vercel for hosting the site and storing uploaded and imported images.
- OpenRouter to read a retailer page and pull out the product details. This involves an AI model. See section 7.
- Firecrawl to fetch a retailer page when we cannot reach it directly.
- fal.ai to remove the background from a product image.
- PostHog for anonymous product analytics.
06 Shared spaces
Boards are private until you choose to share one. When you turn sharing on, we create a long, randomly generated link. Anyone who has that link can view the board without signing in, so treat it as public and only send it to people you trust.
Shared spaces are marked so search engines do not list them, but a link that has been forwarded or posted somewhere public may still be found. You can switch sharing off at any time in the board settings, which stops the link working.
07 How the link import uses AI
When you paste a product link, we fetch that public retailer page and pass its contents to an AI model so it can pick out the brand, product name, shade, and price. We send the page content and the link, not your account details or the rest of your board.
Our providers are instructed not to use this content to train public AI models. Results are not always right, so you can review and correct anything before it settles on your board.
08 Storage, overseas handling, and security
The service is hosted in Australia, and some of the providers in section 5 store or process information in the United States and other countries. By using Beauty Board you agree to your information being handled overseas by those providers.
Information is encrypted in transit, access is limited to those who need it to operate the service, and passwords are handled entirely by our authentication provider. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously and will tell you if a breach affects you.
09 Retention and deletion
- Boards and their contents are kept while your account is open.
- Deleting an item or a board removes it from your account, and it is cleared from our systems shortly after.
- Closing your account removes your boards and images. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.
- Some records are kept longer where the law requires it.
10 Your choices and privacy rights
You can view and edit your boards at any time, turn share links on and off, and close your account. Under the Privacy Act you can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to support@beautyboard.co and we will respond within a reasonable time.
You can opt out of analytics using your browser’s “do not track” setting or a content blocker. The service works normally either way.
11 Children
Beauty Board is not intended for people under 16. If you believe someone under that age has an account, contact support@beautyboard.co and we will remove it.
12 Privacy questions and complaints
Email support@beautyboard.co with any privacy question or complaint. We will acknowledge it and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
13 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and we will give notice in the app before any change that materially affects you.
