Pack for travel from the products you already own

Every trip spawns the same temptation: a new set of minis, a travel-exclusive kit, a fresh routine for a week away. Most of it is unnecessary. You already own products that work, and they already live in Beauty Board. Pack from your catalogue, not from the airport shop. Here is the method.

The trip is not an excuse to repurchase

Travel marketing treats every journey as a reason to buy a parallel routine. Resist it. New products on a trip are a double risk: untested formulas when your skin already faces new water, new air, and new sleep, plus miniature prices that cost more per use than anything else you own.

The rule: nothing new for the trip unless something ran out. Everything else comes from the shelf you have already saved.

Start from the routine you already keep

Open your morning and evening routine and copy it short, not different. Travel skincare is your home routine with the optional steps removed, not a new routine invented for the occasion.

For most trips that means cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen, and at most one treatment. The order stays the same as at home: cleanse, treat, moisturise, protect, following what order to apply skincare, morning and night. Your skin wants familiarity when everything else changes.

Makeup follows the same logic. The base you wear daily, one lip, the brow product, mascara. Occasion makeup earns a slot only if the trip genuinely includes the occasion. If it is not already in your catalogue, it does not belong in the bag.

A list for the bag, a board if you want to see it

Make a short packing list in Beauty Board, separate from your everyday routine. Add the same products you already saved. Each item keeps its size on the record, so the 100ml and the travel tube do not get confused at packing time.

If you think visually, a small board works nicely: product photos in packing order, grouped by morning, evening, and base. Same products as your catalogue, viewed as a bag. One record, many homes, which is the arrangement how to organise a makeup collection without buying more storage describes.

Share the list if someone else is packing with you. They see that list and nothing else, as share a board without sharing your whole collection describes.

Decant from what you own

You do not need to buy minis of products you own in full size. Decant a week's worth into small clean containers, label each with the product name, and wash the containers when you return. This covers cleansers, creams, and serums for trips up to a fortnight.

Two exceptions. Sunscreen travels full size, because trips use more of it than home weeks and running out mid-trip means buying blind. And anything in a pump that decants badly, or a formula that separates when transferred, travels in its original packaging if it fits, or stays home.

Keep any liquid limits for hand luggage in mind as a practical constraint, and check the current rules for your route rather than trusting memory. The decanting habit keeps every container small, which is most of the compliance handled.

Unpack back into the same catalogue

When you return, the travel list does its last job. Anything that ran out gets marked for restock, and belongs on empties if you finished it. Anything unopened that travelled for nothing gets a note, so next time it stays home. Anything you bought on the trip, and there is always something, gets pasted into Beauty Board with brand, name, shade, and shop instead of joining the drawer of mystery souvenirs.

Then put the travel list away until the next trip. It will be there, mostly correct, needing only the seasonal tweaks from what to change in your routine when the weather turns.

Pack what you own, in the order you use it, in sizes that fit the bag. The airport shop will survive without you.
